Start a Childcare Business (And Get Paid to Learn How)

Coming Soon: Free 6-week program with a grant for participants

There's a real need for quality childcare across far Northern California, and you could be the person who fills it.

The Women's Business Center at JEDI is opening interest for the very first cohort of our new Child Care Business program. Over six weeks, we'll walk you step by step through what it actually takes to start and run a childcare business, whether that's out of your home or somewhere else. No prior business experience needed. Just bring your care for kids and your willingness to learn.

What you'll walk away with:

  • A clear understanding of licensing and what's required to get started
  • The basics of setting up your space to be safe and welcoming
  • Simple systems for money, records, and staying organized
  • How to find families and fill your spots
  • A supportive group of others starting the same journey
  • A grant to help you get going

We keep it practical and down to earth. This is built for real people in rural communities, not a corporate boardroom.

This is an application-based program, and space is limited. Add your name to the interest list now to be the first to know when applications open for this first cohort.

The Women's Business Center at JEDI serves Shasta, Siskiyou, Trinity, Butte, and Tehama counties. All programs are free.
